Good Morning Customers,
Buen Día Clientes,
We have a short week ahead in honor & memory of the US Independence Day, on July 4th , 1776.
This Friday the USA will be celebrating 249 years of Independence.
Given that this is a short week, the Energie Team is compounding everything into these four work days, and with that I present to you:
>RETAIL PRICING UPDATE
>FUEL TAX UDPATES
>WEEKLY NEWS UPDATE
WEEKLY FUEL NEWS UPDATE
During these past 10 days we’ve all felt Fear at some level, to some it, has been even Panic… which is never healthy. But a little bit of caution (meaning educated fear) can be good.
When it comes to Crude and Fuel Prices, yup, there was some volatility, this is because the systems that we rely on are connected and managed by us, HUMANS.
Oil Prices did spike mid-June due to the US Strike followed by Iran’s retaliation. But the cease fire was also pretty fast (Thank God). And while there was a little disruption on the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, we are back to normal operations, which cause fuel prices to start declining.
Retail Fuel Prices
Retail fuel prices are holding fairly steady or slightly lower in most areas.
Below are the latest averages, with changes from last week’s levels:
San Diego County
-Gasoline: $4.63/gal (about 5¢ lower than last week’s average of ~$4.68);
-Diesel: $4.90/gal (essentially flat, ~1¢ higher than last week).
California (State Avg.)
-Gasoline: $4.59/gal (down ~7¢ from ~$4.66 last week);
-Diesel: $5.11/gal (virtually unchanged, only ~1¢ lower than last week’s ~$5.12).
U.S. National Avg.
-Gasoline: $3.19/gal (down ~4¢ from last week’s ~$3.22);
-Diesel: $3.69/gal (up ~2¢ from ~$3.68 last week).
Prices are for a gallon of regular unleaded and retail diesel. All comparisons are versus a week ago.
Overall, gasoline is a bit cheaper than last week in California and nationally, while diesel is roughly flat with a slight uptick nationally. This steady to slightly softer price trend is good news for drivers.
📢 California’s ROUTINE Fuel Tax Update
California’s routine fuel tax adjustments take effect this week, and there’s no need for alarm.
Starting July 1, the state’s excise tax on gasoline will increase by approximately 1.6 cents per gallon as scheduled. This small, automatic increase happens every summer. It’s part of California’s normal annual tax update to account for inflation and fund road & transportation projects.
These updates are planned well in advance and are relatively minor, so while you might see a penny-or-so uptick at the pump, it’s an expected change. In short, this is a routine adjustment to keep improving our infrastructure, not a new surprise cost for consumers.
We want to reassure you that these tax tweaks are standard procedure and built into fuel pricing each year.
Aside from this slight tax increase (and some new environmental rules for fuel producers), no other big changes are anticipated.
Have a great week! We’ll continue to monitor global and local fuel trends to keep you informed.
Enjoy the stable prices and drive safe.
Chris.
