What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a specially formulated solution designed to reduce harmful emissions produced by diesel engines and must be handled carefully to maintain its purity. It is a clear, non-toxic solution made up of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. When used in a properly functioning Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system, DEF helps significantly reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel exhaust. Proper SCR systems using quality DEF can reduce NOx emissions by up to approximately 90%, depending on the application and operating conditions.

Only diesel engines equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems require Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). In general, most on-road diesel vehicles built after 2010 use SCR technology to meet emissions regulations. However, older diesel engines (along with some off-road and specialty equipment) may not require DEF.
We offer DEF in 2.5-gallon jugs in half pallets or full pallets, 55-gallon drums, 275-gallon totes, and 330-gallon totes.

We recommend storing DEF in our Micro-Matic Closed Containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. The ideal storage temperatures are between 12°F and 86°F (-11°C to 30°C).
