What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a specially formulated solution designed to reduce harmful emissions produced by diesel engines and must be handled carefully to maintain its purity. It is a clear, non-toxic solution made up of 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. When used properly, DEF can reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by up to 90%. In addition to its environmental benefits, DEF also plays an essential role in maintaining the performance and longevity of your fleet’s emissions system.
Because DEF requires strict handling, Energie Fuel follows two key standards for every DEF product we supply.
- We only provide DEF that meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements, including ISO 22241 and ISO 22241-1.
- We exclusively distribute DEF using Micro Matic closed-container systems to preserve product purity and prevent contamination.
As a result, the DEF we supply maintains its integrity and stays protected from impurities. In addition, our closed-container system provides tamper evidence and helps support DEF system warranty compliance.

DEF package sizes we carry: 2.5 gal jugs, 55 gal drums, 275 gal and 330 gal totes.
If you need a larger setup, please contact Energie Fuel. We will be happy to accommodate all equipment and installation.

FAQ
Only diesel engines equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems require Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF). In general, most on-road diesel vehicles built after 2010 use SCR technology to meet emissions regulations. However, older diesel engines (along with some off-road and specialty equipment) may not require DEF.
We offer DEF in 2.5-gallon jugs in half pallets or full pallets, 55-gallon drums, 275-gallon totes, and 330-gallon totes.
We work directly with your company to develop a scheduling system that best fits your operational needs. Energie Fuel Group delivers bulk DEF directly to your location, secured yard, or job site for fleets throughout Southern California.
We deliver DEF throughout San Diego County and all the way up to Fresno, California. Our service area also extends east up to Las Vegas, Nevada.
We recommend storing DEF in our Micro-Matic Closed Containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. The ideal storage temperatures are between 12°F and 86°F (-11°C to 30°C).
