It’s been a busy week closing out the month, but here we are with your fuel market update.
The good news is that prices are holding steady and still coming in well below last year’s levels.
Fleets in California have been getting some breathing room.
Retail Fuel Price Comparison
San Diego County
> Regular unleaded is averaging $4.69 per gallon, down about 5 cents from last week and around 21 cents cheaper than this time last year
> Diesel is around $4.80 per gallon, down roughly 3 cents from last week and 12 cents lower than last year
California (Statewide)
> Regular unleaded is at $4.69 per gallon, down 8 cents from last week and about 25 cents below last year
> Diesel sits at $4.71 per gallon, down 1 cent from last week and around 40 cents lower year-over-year
U.S. National Average
> Regular unleaded is $3.13 per gallon, about 1 cent down from last week and 35 cents cheaper than a year ago
> Diesel is $3.47 per gallon, 2 cents lower than last week and 20 cents below last year’s mark
Looking Ahead
Fuel prices are staying stable with a slight downward trend.
Refineries are producing plenty, which is helping balance out the high seasonal demand.
The one thing to watch for is the hurricane season. NOAA still expects a higher-than-normal number of storms. A direct hit to Gulf Coast refining hubs could shake things up, but for now things look manageable. No major price spikes on the horizon.
